We select fabrics based on environmental footprint and lifetime durability.
FABRICS
Voglia and our fabric suppliers are committed to complying with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals), a European Union regulation on production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. We pay attention to water and pesticide usage during growing the fibers, and energy and chemicals used during processing.
We consider renewability of resources, and biodegradability, and strive to use both natural and recycled materials. We are constantly looking into using new materials based on circular economy principle of creating a closed-loop where using natural materials is reduced, materials and products are reused, and recycled and turned into something new.
Our Eco Jeans are made from organic cotton and recycled polyester. Some of our products have been determined to have zero environmental impact, in accordance with Oeko-Tex R Standard 100.
ISKO DENIM R-TWO
All of our denim is produced by ISKO Denim, one of the most prolific denim producers in the world. ISKO uses only ecological products and processes, and endeavours to be environmentally conscious in all steps of production. ISKO has been granted the OEKO TEX 100 Standard, GOTS, OEP, ISO 9001, and ISO 9002 certificates.
We use multiple different denim types, but all of the denim Voglia uses is from ISKO’s new R-TWO program containing fabrics that are a mix of reused cotton and recycled polyester.
The recycled polyester is made from PET bottles which are collected, sorted, cleaned and ground into plastic pellets that can be re-spun into new fibers. The energy used to make recycled polyester is less than the amount to make virgin polyester. The recycled polyester is then mixed with reused cotton. Reused cotton is loss from yarn production.
TENCEL
We have been using Tencel for as long as we remember. It is a semi-synthetic fiber with properties almost identical to cotton - but more environmentally friendly. Tencel branded lyocell and modal fibers are produced from sustainably grown and harvested Eucalyptus tree pulp. Eucalyptus trees require less water than other natural materials, and it's biodegradable. Tencel uses a closed loop system that recycles solvents, rather than releasing them into the environment.
REFIBRA
Refibra fiber is used in some of our basic collection clothes. It is made of using cotton scraps from garment production and mixing it with wood pulp and the raw material is transformed to produce new virgin TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers to make fabrics and garments.
